Position: Luton Assembly Coordinator

My name is Lorna Brown and I coordinate the Luton Assembly. It is my role to provide secretariat to the 18 elected Assembly Committee representatives and ensure that the 650 voluntary & community organisations & individuals who make up the Assembly are fully involved in the decisions of the Local strategic Partnership. I also provide a linkage to other local forums & networks in the Town.

It is a challenging role that requires a lot of tact, diplomacy and tenacity, as it is not always easy to get the public agencies to recognise the views of the local people.

I believe that the communities of Luton should be fully involved in decisions affecting them and I attempt to communicate the relevant messages that people should be hearing in a variety of ways:

Monthly newsletter articles

• Website
• Quarterly Assembly meetings
• Attending other network meetings
• Providing training to members of the voluntary & community sector
