I currently work for BRCC (Beds Rural Communities Charity) as the Nourishing Neighbourhoods, Project Officer. Nourishing Neighbourhoods is a three year Wellbeing, Big Lottery funded project. I work across Luton, Dunstable and Hougton Regis managing and delivering ‘Grow your own’, Healthy Eating and Healthy Cooking sessions. My Project Assistant and I work with a varied client base; from people with head/brain injuries, mental health, dementia, learning disabilities and mums and tots. I have worked in the community, arts, education, heritage and environment sector for 10 years. My last employer was English Heritage, where I worked for four years, as an Outreach Manager for the East of England. I worked with diverse communities managing and developing a range of outreach community heritage projects and Heritage Open Days. Projects worked towards government PSA targets set by the DCMS. I’m a born and bred Lutonian and feel very passionate about my local community, hence I left my regional role with EH to work for the BRCC; a local rural environment charity. Seven years ago I worked for Luton Adult Education’s South Luton Community College as an Outreach Officer. I worked with local communities in Farley, Dallow, Biscot, Park Town and Bury Park. I developed and sometimes delivered community adult education courses, working at a grass roots and strategic local area agreement level. I therefore believe I have a broad oversight of the town, its people and community groups.
