I have workedwith disadvantaged and disaffected young people, as a volunteer sine 1990. As a black man with mixed race nephews. I can identify with both the black and white community, and as someone who grew up in Bury Park with the south asian community too. I am currently the Director of the Chinese Kuoshu Institute, based at Denbigh High School.
This multi faith and multicultural project was established to help children and young people to develop respect for themselves and for their communities through the catalyst of sport. I am the driving force behind this project and many of its success. I spend a lot of time coaching, talking to and listening to children and young people, I understand their needs and expectations and has developed child centred programmes to ensure that children and young people remain engaged and focussed on achieving - whilst having fun and staying safe. the child safety agenda is one which I see as being critical to any successful Children's plan. I have resposibilty for safeguarding and protecting children and young people at the CKI, and am working to develop the Child Protection policy for the NGB for Chinese Martial Arts.
