Profile of Dr Anwar Haque

 

 

 

 

Dr Anwar Haque is a community activist involved with different organisations in various capacities to improve community cohesion. He has been living in the town for more than 20 years and working in Luton for number of years in improving the education performances at Primary and Secondary levels.

 He is the founder Secretary of ‘Purbachal’ which has grown dramatically in delivering arts and culture bringing different communities together. He is also Vice Chair of ‘Luton Mela’, an organisation responsible for staging Luton Mela event each year. More importantly, he has been a committee member of Luton’s ‘Community Empowerment Network’ (Luton Assembly) and is the Vice Chair of ‘Luton Strategic Partnership’ known as Luton Forum. He has developed specialist skills to represent Luton’s Voluntary and Community sector in developing a cohesive and sustainable community. He has already proven himself as an active and valuable member of the Assembly.

Dr. Haque was awarded ‘Pride in Luton’ award in 2007 and ‘Channel S’ Award in 2006 for his contribution in community development. Personally he is friendly and devoted to work for the community.

Dr. Haque is actively involved in acting and directing in both TV and stage drama. Both his performance and direction was rated as outstanding.
