I have been actively involved in community work in Luton since 1980. My involvement has been in local community developemnt, community relationsm and regeneration issues - both in an elected and voluntary capacity. My experience has been extremely diverse - across the health, local government, education, voluntary and community sectors. I have been a governor at several schools in Luton. Currently I am chair of Governors at Challney High School for Girls. I have been a governor at Luton Sixthform College and university of Luton. I have served as a Non-Exec Director at Beds & Herts Ambulance and Paramedic Services NHS Trust. I am currently serving as a trustee at Luton Law Centre and Citizens Advice Bureau. I am also a trustee at Pasque Hospice in Luton. I have served as a local councillor at Luton Borough Council for 12 years (From 1991 to 2003). At the Council, I held a number of key positions at different committees. i also had the honour of serving as Mayor of Luton during 1997/98.
